Mr S Rogers – Director of Music

 

Curriculum Intent

To promote and nurture a passion for music 

 To develop and embed skills, an understanding and knowledge in music and challenging misconceptions in music. 

To develop challenge, resilience, independence and confidence through performing, composing and appraising music 

To develop teamworking, leadership and communication skills through ensemble performing 

To develop and nurture pupil’s lifelong passion and appreciation of music.  

Enable students to reflect on their learning and apply to future material 

To prepare students for GCSE music option through a practical, varied and challenging KS3 curriculum 

To encourage students to be open minded and inquisitive about further education and careers in music  

To ‘think big’ and expose students to a range of diverse cultures, styles and genres of music 

To provide a wide range of musical experiences and opportunities in the whole school environment 

To challenge preconceived attitudes towards music being an exclusive and unattainable subject. 

To develop practical musical skills that will enable progression through the curriculum.
