Curriculum Intent
In delivering our Science curriculum, we aim to have developed our students by:
- Giving them a body of scientific knowledge, and the skills of scientific enquiry, that enables them to take science to the next stage of their education and into their working and personal lives.
- Encouraging them to “think big” and to appreciate the doors that science can unlock for them by offering an ambitious pathway to as many of them as possible.
- Catering for the full range of different needs and abilities and supporting each of them to achieve well in whichever science qualifications they take.
- Promoting in them a sense of curiosity about the world around them, in science lessons and elsewhere and nurture the skills that will lead to effective lifelong learners of science.
- Raising their awareness as global citizens of the issues facing them, and the world, that can be best tackled using scientific and technological approaches.
- Giving them the skills to be able to distinguish claims in the media from others, based on the use of scientific evidence.
- Enabling them to become independent, creative and resilient learners.
