On Friday 8th March a group of staff and students took part in The Big Sleep, the flagship event for the Alabare charity who support the homeless in the local area. Six members of staff and 13 students spent the night in Salisbury Cathedral Cloisters, so far raising £2121.42 to help support the charity’s work with the vulnerable.

The six staff members were Mrs Dean and Mrs Doole (who were completing the challenge for the second year), and joined by Mrs Thompson, Mrs Van Staden, Miss Pavey and Mrs Hock. The 13 students were members of Year 10 and 11 as all participants needed to be over the age of 14 to deal with the challenging conditions.

Armed with cardboard, warm clothes, and a sleeping bag, the group have wanted to raise awareness of those forced to call the streets home, which has also included the delivery of assemblies to all year groups, and a whole school non-uniform day and cake sale to support their efforts.

The final amount raised is expected to be well over £2500 as money continues to be raised.
