MUSIC

Example of some GCSE work from 2008.

Music is seen as a very inclusive subject within the school, providing many opportunities for pupils across the curriculum. Music is a compulsory element in years 7, 8 and 9 and can then be taken as an option at GCSE level. We encourage pupils, regardless of ability, to take part in the wide range of musical opportunities the school has to offer, including choirs, wind band, rock band and keyboard club.
Music is taught in mixed ability groups, facilitating learning at a pace that is both comfortable and attainable to the individual. Over KS3 pupils will gain a range of skills and knowledge through the listening and appraising , composing and performing of a variety of musical styles and genres.
The Music department is very well equipped and incorporates one main teaching room, a fully integrated music ICT suite and three individual practice/tuition rooms.
We use a wide range of instruments during lessons including a variety of percussion and approximately 20 keyboards.
